About Dr. Art's Guide to Planet Earth
|
Dr. Art's Planet Guide project introduces systems thinking and applies it to
understanding planet Earth. Earth systems science is the way that scientists from many
different fields work together to investigate and understand our planet. NASA uses and
promotes Earth systems science.

Dr. Art directs the WestEd Eisenhower Regional Consortium for Science and
Math Education (WERC).
WestEd is one of ten regional education laboratories funded by the U.S.
Department of Education. This project grew out of work with the
Utah State Office of Education in helping to develop and implement a new
Earth systems science course for Utah high school students.

About the Author
Dr. Art Sussman received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Princeton University. He performed scientific research at Oxford University, Harvard Medical School and the University of California at San Francisco. For the past 25 years, he has helped the general public, teachers and students understand science, especially as it affects them in their daily lives. Dr. Art uses innovative ways to show that science is understandable, interesting, relevant and fun. |
