Earth's Internal Energy

Although Earth's internal geothermal energy contributes very little energy compared to the sun, it is a very important part of Earth's energy budget. Tyler Volk, an Earth Systems scientist at New York University, has written that while the energy form the sun through falling rain and blowing wind can make molehills out of mountains, only Earth's internal energy can make mountains out of molehills.
